improve blog post seo

We all come to this point once in a while where we plan to be the best at what we do and write. I've been blogging since 2011 and if I knew then what I know now, my blog would definitely be in a totally different place by now. Up until two years ago, caring or even thinking about improving blog SEO wasn't even a thought in my mind. Then I got into internet marketing and it changed my blog life forever.

I think I'm in love to be honest with you. I have the power to dominate the search engines of the inter-webs. You do too, believe it or not.

If you want to increase blog traffic and even page views, read on. Follow these tips to help ensure you improve seo for your blog posts. Don't worry, you don't have to be a brainiac to accomplish any of this.

1. THAT POST TITLE IS EVERYTHING!
It's in essence, the first impression you give off to the potential reader of your post. Whether your niche is beauty or travel, they will either think you are about to share something SUPER helpful for them or that you are just another blogger trying to be relevant... let's make them believe you're worth the time. You want to capture attention, not shoot it away with boring titles. (Ex. The reason you're reading this post now...) - This is super helpful!

2. KEYWORDS MAKE 'EM DANCE...
I know some of you may be thinking, don't! If you want to show up on the first page of Google at any given time, keywords and/or keyword phrases will get you there. I've experienced this with many of my posts and saw myself on the first page for posts like this and this. TIP: Can be things people are looking for or MAY be hoping to find.- Make sure your keywords are included in your post title. (Ex. My phrase is "improve blog post seo")

3. PHOTOS, LINKS, AND THINGS
The images you download or take yourself SHOULD always be re-named to include your blog post keywords/phrase. So when you upload them into your posts you can make sure the image alt tags match. Helps the engines understand what the image is all about. The same applies to your post url and meta description (that text you see under the search results).

4. DON'T USE KEYWORD OVERKILL
The biggest issue not so savvy SEOers have is using their keywords too much with their posts. That means stuffing the same phrase in close to every paragraph. Nah. Stop. Avoid. Google WILL think you're spamming and will politely ignore your post, deeming it irrelevant by making sure you rarely, if at all show up as a search result.

5. GOOGLE LOVES ORIGINALITY
Be an innovator. Show your personality all while remaining true and relevant to what you're writing about. It always helps to write something inspirational too to bring traffic and comments! Remember, nothing I share in this post will be useful without original, high-quality content.

Quick Tip: I learned this a couple years ago. Let search engines know you have something fresh out the bloggy oven by pinging your post url. This is a cool one!

Don't get me wrong, not EVERY single post you write should cater to the search engine bots UNLESS you want extra special attention to certain posts. Now would be a great time to go back in time and update a few past posts, right? Good-luck!

  2. Beyond the keywords and titles, I'd have to say the number one thing I notice many bloggers (even some of the best ones out there!) miss is the importance of renaming their photos and posts. I learned the importance of naming posts and their accompanying images within the past two years, and it's played a HUGE role in my blog's traffic. Insightful tips, Neosha.
